Mingyur Rinpoche is full of the joy of living and imparts it freely throughout the text. He has experienced all of the training and meditation practise of a Tibetan Buddhist monk and his interest in neuroscience and physics has given him another perspective on how the mind operates and how regular meditation alters the brain for the better. You don't have to be a Buddhist to practise the meditations in this book, nor to appreciate the funny stories and the optimistic encouragement that Mingur Rinpoche offers. He helpfully describes his own meditation experiences. His language is clear and his explanations have a light, open quality that make the book almost compulsively readable. Things that were obscure before suddenly make sense. It is like listening to a wise and funny teacher who is speaking directly to you and whose compassion for your difficulties is always present.
