From the A-Z of “Veg & Fruit” – ‘B’. The Bilimbi is sometimes called a Chinese
Gooseberry but it is not a gooseberry at all. It is a ‘malay cucumber tree’. The fruit grows in
clusters on a compact evergreen tree. I have actually seen it at the Vic Market. You can slice
and stir fry in soy sauce for a sweet and sour taste.

From “Diet for a New America”, book published in 2009. Water Usage – an individual
with a meat-based diet uses 4,000 gallons of water per day to produce their food. To produce
food for a lacto-ovovegetarian, 1,200 gallons of water per day are used (I think this person eats
fish & eggs?) A pure vegetarian’s water usage to produce food is 300 gallons a day.
