Bread Recipe

Ingredients

  • 6 cups flour (usually spelt)
  • 1 tbs dry yeast
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp honey 
  • 4 cups tepid water


Note: any combination of flour can be used

  1. Add yeast to flours.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix honey, olive oil and tepid water.
  3. Add the liquid to the flour and mix throughly. Add more water if required to make a smooth dough.
  4. Put dough on a bench and knead thoroughly.
  5. Place back into floured bowl and cover with a damp cloth. Place in a warm spot and let rise to nearly double the size.
  6. Preheat oven to about 200°c.
  7. Take dough from bowl and punch down. Knead thoroughly and place in a greased bread tin, or make into rolls. Cover with damp cloth and let rise again.
  8. Bake in a hot oven until done. Bread will sound hollow when tapped.
